Amu Hinamori
Amu is shy and self-denying, but is also kind-hearted, and always prepared to go out of her way to help others who need it, and learns the philosophy that comes with her life. Amu pretends to be tough even though that's not who she really is.
On the other hand, she is also very caring and responsible, though she can also be a bit airheaded and often forgets to do her homework. Her parents entrust her with the care of her little sister whenever they're unavailable.

Ran
Ran is the first guardian character to hatch, and the first to character transform with Amu. She is extremely energetic and is almost never seen without her cheerleader pom-poms. She is born from Amu's wish to become someone other than herself.
Ran represents Amu's desire to be more honest, athletic, and confident.

Miki
Miki is the second guardian character to hatch. She is very artistic and fashionable. Her powers include increasing Amu's drawing and painting abilities. She is born from Amu's wish to become someone other than herself. In Shugo Chara! Doki, Miki is the only one out of Amu's Guardian Characters to be able to sense Mystery Eggs clearly. Miki is also the guardian character that reflects on Amu's love interests, showing an interest in Kiseki, Yoru, Daichi, Rhythm, and Musashi.
Miki represents Amu's desire to be more sharp, levelheaded, and artistic.

Su
Su is the third guardian character to hatch. She tends to be very girly and doesn't have many fighting skills, but has domestic skills. She is very good at housekeeping, cooking, and knitting. She is born from Amu's wish to become someone other than herself.
Su represents Amu's desire to be more caring, sensitive, and improve her domestic skills.

Hotori Tadase
Tadase is timid and educated, even though he acts confident around others. Tadase is very kind as Kiseki points out that kindness is his strength before they Character Transform into Platinum Royale for the first time. The Shugo Chara! Encyclopedia! describes Tadase as a boy who is "kind and slightly shy", it also comments he's "totally popular with the girls".

Tadase's Guardian Character is Kiseki, who was born from his desire to become stronger and the dream of world domination. Also, Kiseki acts as if he is the leader amongst all the Guardian Characters. It's a running gag for the other Guardian Characters to ignore him.

Fujisaki Nadeshiko
Fujisaki Nadeshiko
Nadeshiko is the former Queen's Chair of the Guardians. When Amu rejected the offer to join the Guardians, Nadeshiko tried several tactics to convince Amu to join. The two eventually become best friends and Nadeshiko looks over and supports Amu in her love life. When Amu went to Nadeshiko's house for a sleepover, she also stated that Nadeshiko was really pretty, and that she could dance really well.

Nadeshiko's Guardian Character is the elegant, yet fierce-tempered Temari. Being very well-mannered, Temari dislikes having her kimono dirty. But whenever there are bugs or other insects present, or if something goes off, she can be very tempered and actually forces others to finish what has started.

Souma Kukai
Souma Kukai
Kukai is the big brother to the guardians and one year senior to most of them. Kukai helps Amu with her training as the Joker. Although he was the captain of the soccer club, Kukai loves and excels at all sports.
As a sporty kid, he has an outgoing personality, and also has a sense of justice. He is very competitive and sometimes competes with Amu and Nadeshiko.

Daichi
Kukai's Guardian Character is Daichi, born from his passion for sports, but was indecisive to choose one to stick with.
Like his owner, Daichi is very enthusiastic about sports. He is an energetic, cheerful character and cannot seem to sit still.

Yuiki Yaya
Yuiki Yaya
Yaya Yuiki is the childish girl serving as the Ace's Chair and is one year junior to Amu. Yaya often acts immature for her age, such as having an enormous sweet tooth, and a great soft spot for items like ribbons as well as tending to be hyperactive. Yaya wants to be a baby forever, so her parents would give her more love than her younger brother. She is also a good ballerina, but also a rather clumsy one. Yaya's favorite things are cute and babyish.

Pepe
Her Guardian Character is the infant-like Pepe, born from her desire to become a baby again. Pepe has darkish orange hair in two ponytails like Yaya and light blue eyes. Pepe wears a pink baby outfit with a white bib and a pink and white hat with bunny ears and a red ribbon on the side. Pepe always has a yellow pacifier in her mouth.

Tsukiyomi Ikuto
Ikuto is enigmatic, aloof, stoic and a little naughty, much like an alley cat. He can also be sweet and kind. He likes teasing people, especially Amu and Tadase. Ikuto is selfless and protective, thus, he is willing to distance himself from those he cares in order to protect them and stop them from getting embroiled in his own troubles.

Yoru
Yoru is very mischievous and likes to taunt the Guardians and their Guardian Characters a lot. He especially likes to steal Kiseki's crown, and he also shown an interest in rapping.
When he is around Ikuto, he usually ends up acting somewhat of a little brother to him. Yoru is often heard saying "nya" at the end of each sentence. Yoru is also selfless when need be.

Tsumugu Hinamori
Tsumugu Hinamori is a wild bird photographer, the husband of Midori Hinamori and the father of Amu Hinamori and Ami Hinamori.
Tsumugu is a very active and energetic man that Midori Hinamori finds interesting in him, but he is also a devoted man to his daughters where he refers to them with names like "papa's little sparrows" and "papa's shining star".

Utau is a high school student turned singing idol. Utau Hoshina is actually only her stage name, since her actual name is Utau Tsukiyomi, and she's Ikuto's younger sister.

Manami
Manami is a minor character, who goes in the same class as Amu Hinamori. She is one of the few characters who are closer to Amu aside from the Guardians. In the first episode, when Amu confessed to Tadase, she was one of the first people to confront her. The two have been close friends ever since. Because her mother owns a flower shop, Manami dreams of becoming a florist, but also wants to try other stuff.

Wakana
Wakana, just like Manami, is one of Amu Hinamori's closer friends that's not part of the Guardians. Though she has expressed an interest in becoming a teacher, she also seems to think of being a fashion designer or singer.
